Jinan Central Hospital

Jinan Central Hospital is a provincial-level regional medical center in Shandong Province, a large-scale, comprehensive Grade III Class A hospital, and the affiliated central hospital of Shandong First Medical University. Since its establishment, it has been one of the three major teaching hospitals of Shandong Medical College. The hospital now serves as a national clinical trial institution for drugs, an international SOS partner hospital, an international healthcare center, and a national standardized training base for resident physicians. It also houses a postdoctoral research workstation and an academician workstation.

The hospital is divided into a central campus and an eastern campus, covering an area of 325 mu. The hospital is equipped with cutting-edge medical devices at internationally leading levels, including the advanced da Vinci robotic surgical system, holographic digital PET-CT, 3.0T MRI, dual-source CT, DSA, linear accelerator, high-end cardiovascular ultrasound, and small-animal MRI.

The hospital currently has an authorized bed capacity of 3,870. At present, the central campus has 1,811 beds in operation, while the eastern campus has 805 beds open. The hospital sees nearly 2.17 million outpatient visits annually and discharges over 124,000 patients each year. The hospital currently boasts one “Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Expert” selected under the National “Hundred, Thousand, Ten Thousand Talents Program,” three specially appointed Taishan Scholars, one young Taishan Scholar, 11 recipients of the special government allowance from the State Council, three recipients of the special provincial government allowance, six provincial-level outstanding young and middle-aged experts, 26 top-notch professional and technical talents at or above the city level, and one participant in the “Haiyou Qiaochu” top talent aggregation program. The hospital has 28 doctoral supervisors and 112 master’s supervisors. In recent years, it has been awarded four Quancheng Scholars and four leading teams in Quancheng’s industrial sector. One innovator was recognized under Quancheng’s “5150” Talent Attraction and Enhancement Program, along with four Qilu Health and Wellness Leading Talents and seven Outstanding Young Scientists. In 2020, the hospital was approved as the Shandong Province Intelligent Diagnostic Technology Innovation Center; in 2021, the Science and Technology Innovation Building was put into use. The hospital is equipped with a basic medical research platform, a specialized translational medicine research platform, an experimental animal research platform, a clinical medicine research center, and a metabolism and disease research center, providing robust hardware and software support for both clinical and basic research across the entire hospital. In 2022, the Clinical Pharmacy College of Shandong First Medical University was established at the hospital. Since the start of the 13th Five-Year Plan, the hospital has been approved for one major national science and technology project on new drug development, 54 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, and three special projects guided by the central government to support local initiatives. Over the past five years, the hospital has undertaken a total of 443 national, provincial, and municipal-level research projects and received 55 awards in various scientific and technological fields. It also hosts one provincial engineering research center, one provincial technology innovation center, two provincial key laboratories for medicine and health, one provincial key laboratory for traditional Chinese medicine, one provincial key laboratory for higher education institutions, three key provincial disciplines in medicine and health, and 28 key municipal laboratories in medicine. The hospital maintains strong academic exchanges and cooperative relationships with countries and regions including the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, and South Korea.
